An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a Speech and Language Assistant within the LIFE provision to assist the qualified therapists in delivering an excellent speech & language therapy service to students with a wide range of interaction/communication difficulties.

The College is developing in a transformational way, and we are seeking a Speech and Language Assistant for the LIFE provision to play a vital role in our journey.

We are looking for a motivated Speech and Language Assistant to join our team and play a crucial role in developing means of communication appropriate to each student’s individual needs, to prepare communication materials for assessment and treatment use and to liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team on behalf of the Therapist regarding a student’s Therapy.
In this position, you will create opportunities for communication appropriate throughout the educational provision to enable each young person to communicate to the best of their ability, complete delegated Speech & Language Therapy interventions which may include group work and to complete records ensuring they are accurate, timely and in accordance with the organisational, Professional and Departmental standards and procedures.

You will also be responsible for assisting in identifying appropriate equipment and adaptations required in student’s external environments and homes and to participate and contribute to the Therapist’s assessment and treatment planning.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within SEN ,have strong organisational skills, be solution focused, have a proactive approach, have good interpersonal skills for working closely with students, families, carers, teachers and other professionals .You should be proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.

Previous experience of these things is essential, along with a commitment to providing a high-quality students/staff stakeholder experience
