Band 4 – Registered Dental Nurse.
1st post for 17hours/week
2ns post for 24hrs/week
The Maxillofacial Department based in Outpatients; Stockport NHS Foundation trust are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, outgoing registered Dental Nurse to join our specialist team.
We are an extremely hard working, committed, friendly team ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to our patients.
Applicant must have a flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of our service users, we provide specialist care and services across our speciality in and around the Stockport and surrounding boroughs . Our Clinics currently run Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 16pm, with additional weekends if needed to meet service requirements.
**There are lots of new and exciting changes taking place across the speciality and staff recruited will have the opportunity to work off site to develop their skills and learn new skills with the existing team. Please note that this may not be in the Borough of Stockport **
A Positive learning approach to new skills is mandatory we partake in Venepuncture, Orthodontic, Nurse-Led Clinics and Theatre scrubbing/ assisting.
Opportunities for personal and professional development within the trust, Opportunities to support you with your CPD Requirements with full support from the senior dental nurse and management.
Services at the moment partly based in Hyde, until the new outpatient building is ready for operation in Summer 2025.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties include Working in Outpatient Oral Surgery clinics, Orthodontics, Nurse-Led clinics, Scrubbing in Main Theatres and Assisting and scrubbing in our own Operating theatre ensuring high, quality care is met in line with the GDC Regulations and trust policies.
To carry out clerical tasks as required within the role such as orthodontic model boxes, uploading patient photographs.
To carry out duties as required and be able to work independently within the dental department and theatre areas.
To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist practical skills and theoretical knowledge across a wide range of Orthodontic and Maxillofacial procedures in accordance with the British Dental Association (BDA) and British Orthodontic Society (BOS) recommendations.
To be accountable for your dental nurse registration and ensuring you complete all of the relevant CPD in line with the GDC recommendations.
To have excellent communication skills with patients, careers, support services and clinical colleagues dealing with exposure to highly distressing or emotional circumstances.
Rotation within the Maxillofacial Department which includes Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Theatre's and Consultant Led Nurse-Led Clinics.
Consultant Led Nurse-Led Clinics including taking alginate impressions, taking clinical photographs and consent from patients and providing Oral Health advice.

- If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £45.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

Person specification
Essential
Essential criteria- NVQ / Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing
- Minimum 3 years post registration experience
- Post Qualification in Oral Surgery, Orthodontic nursing, Radiography, or Oral Health
Essential and Desirable
Essential criteria- GDC Registration - Upto date CPD and PDP
- Good Communication Skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work in a variety of clinics/ with different clinicians
Chairside Assisting
Essential criteria- Experience of Chairside assistance with multiple Clinicians
- Orthodontic Chairside Experience
Additional Skills
Desirable criteria- Experience Theatre Scrubbing
- Experience in a Hospital Setting / Maxillofacial Department
- Venepuncture
- Impression taking and photograph clinical skills
