Gardener / Caretaker
Oxford High School is looking for a dedicated and proactive Gardener / Caretaker to join our Premises team on a permanent basis.
This is a key role within the team, responsible for maintaining the school’s grounds, landscaped areas, and gardens to an exceptional standard. Working across three sites, you will be key to ensuring that the school presents a welcoming, well-maintained, and inspiring environment throughout the year.
To achieve this, you will design and implement planting schemes that showcases the school's grounds throughout the seasons. In addition to your gardening duties, you may be required to undertake a variety of basic property maintenance tasks to support the overall operation of the school.You will also help preserve site security, by securing the premises after school hours.
This is a full-time role for 36 hours per week, working all year round across five days. Although this role will usually encompass a day shift, there will be a requirement to work early, late and weekend shifts. Hours will vary due to lettings and events and may include week and weekend days.
You will have sound knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance, along with an understanding of security procedures. While good maintenance skills and experience of routine property maintenance is desirable, they are not essential. You will demonstrate the ability to work effectively on your own initiative as well as in collaboration with other teams.Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to relate to pupils, parents, colleagues, and external agencies.
