Financial Controller

We are working with a dynamic energy company who are looking for a Financial Controller to lead a team responsible for handling monthly financial reporting, assist with year-end audits, and contribute to various projects. This position requires managing month-end balances and reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly figures and disclosures.
• Provide senior management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to support effective policy-making and financial decisions.
• Supply external auditors with necessary documentation and support.
• Manage all finance and accounting operations.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Prepare timely monthly management accounts.
• Streamline and enhance all operations and accounting systems.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.

Required Skills:

• Practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
• Proficiency in IT, especially Excel.
• Strong analytical skills for effective financial report analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.

Required Experience:

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller leading a team of 3-5 direct reports.
• Experience with derivative and fair value reporting.
• Over 8 years of qualified accounting and finance experience (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience in creating financial statements.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
