Managing Director

Location: Flexible, with regular travel across key regions (Northampton, Tewkesbury, Basildon, London/Southeast, Midlands, Milton Keynes to Cambridge). Minimum three days per month in Coventry.

Salary: Competitive (plus bonus & benefits)

Contract: Permanent - 40 hours a week

About the role

As Managing Director, you will have full ownership of our Commercial Landscaping business area, spearheading its strategic growth, financial success, and operational excellence. As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive business expansion, optimise financial performance, and streamline operations across multiple sites.

You will play a pivotal role in securing and delivering high-value landscaping projects, cultivating strong client relationships, and implementing a cohesive strategy to accelerate growth and profitability. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow the Commercial Landscaping (Creation) business, driving strategy, financial performance, and operational success.
  • Managing & driving sales - with responsibility for the sales function within the House Build space.
  • Develop and execute business plans that ensure efficiency, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Manage financial performance, including but not limited to P&L, contracts, stock, and staffing.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to secure long-term success.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience understanding the processes & project life cycles to work from cradle to grave with a customer. This means from the generation of quote/estimate/tender to delivering the project.
  • You must be a proven leader in commercial landscaping, with NEC and JCT contract experience.
  • Strong financial expertise, including P&L management, contract negotiation, and CVR, with a demonstrable ability to forecast, conducting individual job costing & an ability to understand projects from a quoting perspective all the way through to delivery on the ground.
  • Track record of success, winning and delivering large-scale projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong experience in leadership, delegating responsibilities and supervising the work of executives providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
  • Strategic thinker with experience preparing and presenting business plans to senior stakeholders.
