Our Research and Innovation Division strives to be at the forefront of R&I in UK healthcare. We are dedicated to driving continuous improvement in the care our patients receive through clinical research. We support over 300 principal investigators undertake research across a diverse range of clinical areas, with more than 800 active studies, involving 15,000 patients, deliver improved diagnostics, treatments and devices for patients in Manchester and beyond.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a full time, Band 6 Senior Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse, to coordinate and deliver clinical research studies at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). The role will require working in the general paediatric research team.

You’ll be joining an award-winning and diverse team of experts at MFT who are making a difference to the future of care in the NHS by asking questions and finding out the answers.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is capable of contributing to the development of research within the paediatric research teams. The post is based at Oxford Road campus but cross working across MFT sites maybe required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the paediatric clinical research team. They will assist in the management, co-ordination and facilitation of clinical trial activities to support delivery of current and future studies in the research team to time and target.

They will provide specialist research and clinical care for participants and patients enrolling in a variety of research studies and project.

They will work across Research & Innovation, to support research studies across MFT as the service need dictates.

The post holder will have a key role in providing and maintaining appropriate patient/ participant –focused environment within the research setting. They will work with clinical investigators and sponsor companies to assist in the management of trial protocols.

They will ensure data collection is to its highest standards, facilitating the production of good quality research with a commitment to the patient’s safety and wellbeing.

They will be expected to participate fully in their own personal development and review process in order to achieve the knowledge and skills identified in the competency framework and competencies for this post.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Paediatric/Adult Nurse with NMC
  • Degree in healthcare subject or equivalent level of experience
  • Additional specialist training
Desirable criteria
  • GCP certificate
  • Mentorship Training

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of clinical research
  • Knowledge of ICH, Good Clinical Practice regulations relating to clinical research
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of clinical and research governance
  • Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures

Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of working in a clinical environment and working to deadlines
  • Proven experience of dealing with a busy workload
  • Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
  • Evidence of CPD
