Parkinson's Disease Specialist Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, innovative and motivated Registered Nurse to join our expert nursing team within the Parkinson's Disease Specialist Service.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual who must have Parkinson's Disease experience. You will be fully supported to develop existing and new skills working within frameworks of competence.
You will be joining a multi- disciplinary Neurology Long Term Condition service that continues to grow and develop, working alongside Consultant Neurologists, other specialty nurses and dedicated Health Care Assistants.
There is full administrative support and the team works collaboratively with the wider Neurology Long Term Conditions MDT that consists of neuropsychologists and specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Main duties of the job- To apply specialist knowledge and skills to assess and identify complex needs of patients and their carers and to implement Parkinson's Disease Care and Advice
- To work as an autonomous practitioner with support from Neurology Consultant Team
- To manage a caseload of complex patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease
- To act as a link between primary, secondary and tertiary care
- To design, implement, deliver and evaluate specialist education and training in support of other health and social care colleagues
- To ensure effective delivery and monitoring of Parkinson's Disease care throughout the Trust by supporting generalist staff and by using advanced epilepsy and seizure medication knowledge and advanced communication skills
- To promote and provide equity of access to specialist Parkinson's Disease services across Bolton for all, promoting individual equality, diversity and rights
- To initiate, undertake and evaluate the development of Quality Improvement work within the Specialist Parkinson's Disease service as well as research and clinical audit

- NMC registration

- Mentor qualification

Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of managing a caseload
