Salary: £31,650 – £51,048 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on your specialism and experience.
  • Plan and deliver creative lessons that inspire students and encourage a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Teach across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at Key Stage 3, with the opportunity to specialise in your subject area at Key Stage 4 and beyond.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated to achieve their full potential.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and practical investigations to develop students' scientific knowledge and enquiry skills.
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing effective feedback to support achievement and development.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students, including those with additional learning needs.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE examinations and achieving strong academic outcomes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives aimed at raising attainment and engagement.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including STEM clubs, science fairs, educational visits, and enrichment opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science.
  • A passion for science education and the ability to inspire curiosity and enthusiasm in young people.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and carers.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and supporting students of all abilities.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
