At HMP Ranby we provide a fully integrated healthcare service, delivering care to sentenced prisoners that is equivalent to that in the community.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team and lead our psychosocial team to offer a range of therapeutic interventions to those individuals with substance misuse issues.

We are looking for people who share our values

We are non-judgmental
We are caring
We have integrity
We put the patient first
We are committed to team work

We are proud to work for the NHS

This is an exciting time to be part of the Offender Health Team.

To be responsible for taking a lead role in providing effective therapeutic substance misuse recovery services.

As senior substance misuse practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team in a prison setting, you will be required to offer care to patients with complex substance misuse problems, many with co-occurring mental health issues, from the point of entry into the prison system to re-entry into the community so that re-offending is reduced and the health and social functioning of the individual is improved.

You will be expected to deliver high quality and compassionate care through appropriate assessment, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions for men with substance misuse problems working to both harm reduction and health promotion / recovery agendas.

To provide leadership to a team of staff by maintaining professional standards, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures, and to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

#TeamNottsHC comprises over 11,000 dedicated colleagues who #MakeADifference every day. We deliver intellectual disability, mental health, community health, forensic, and offender healthcare services across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire.

Our care is provided from over 200 sites, spanning community locations, acute settings, and secure environments, including prisons.

We are one of the largest mental health and community Trusts in the East Midlands and one of Nottinghamshire's biggest employers. We also host national and regional services, such as the National High Secure Deaf Service and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health.

We offer a variety of employee-led staff networks, including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) groups, the Green Champions network, the Freedom to Speak Up network, the Health and Wellbeing Champions network, and the Menopause Champions network.

These networks play a vital role in supporting our diverse workforce and promoting a culture of inclusivity.

The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority. We invest significantly in this through our in-house occupational health and staff counselling services, supported by a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team.

The Trust is committed to reducing its carbon emissions, with a specialised Energy and Environmental team working to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, enhance our environmental performance, and achieve our net-zero commitment

You should have in-depth theoretical knowledge and clinical experience of substance misuse and evidence based, psycho-social interventions to include harm reduction, relapse prevention and management.

It will be important to work collaboratively with the men to enable and empower them to take positive steps towards improving their health and wellbeing by developing their knowledge, insight and coping strategies about the origins of their problems to help them understand and manage their substance misuse issues.

You will need to be able to develop and maintain a programme of therapeutic interventions and support a team of Psychosocial workers to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge which will enable them to actively and meaningfully contribute to the delivery of the therapeutic programme.

You should have previous experience of working effectively within an MDT/interagency team and be able to communicate effectively with others.

It is essential that you have the skills and compassion to understand and respond appropriately to service users who present with challenging and complex behaviours. You will also need to be able to offer support in a crisis situation and have experience of working with patients who self-harm.

You will need to ensure that you update mandatory training requirements are met and to have a proactive approach to self-development, working to maintain your own personal and professional development plan, appraise your own performance and discuss development needs with mentors, supervisors and line manager.

You will be expected to act as a positive role model to staff and patients. Participate in and offer regular clinical and managerial supervision.
