Fire Alarms and Security Systems Engineer
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
Remuneration: Competitive salary with negotiable benefits
Working Hours: Standard working week from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Typically assigned to customer sites within a 70-mile radius of our Nottingham office. Additional travelling time will be compensated.
On-Call Duty: 1 week in every 7
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Installation, Maintenance, and Small Works Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and minor project works related to fire alarm systems and security systems.This role requires a proactive individual with a strong technical background in fire and security systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Installation of fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, access control systems, intruder alarms and emergency lighting in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Ensure installations are completed to the highest standards and comply with relevant codes and regulations.
Program and configure systems to meet the specific needs of each site.
Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of installed systems to ensure they are fully operational.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of fire alarms, security systems, and related equipment.
Diagnose and repair faults, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption for clients.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance visits and actions taken.
Small Works and Modifications:
Undertake small works and system modifications as required, including upgrades, expansions, and enhancements.
Work on minor construction or refurbishment projects, ensuring integration with existing systems.
Coordinate with clients and other trades to ensure seamless execution of small works.
Client Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service, addressing client queries and concerns promptly and professionally.
Offer technical advice and support to clients, ensuring they are fully informed about their systems.
Conduct client training sessions on the operation and maintenance of installed systems.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Stay updated with the latest industry developments, standards, and best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
Complete all necessary documentation, including service reports, installation certificates, and timesheets.
Provide detailed and accurate reports on work performed, including recommendations for further action.
Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring availability when needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Electrical, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and security systems.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Licenses/Certifications:
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI) are highly desirable.
Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools.
Comfortable working at heights.
Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and on-call duties as required
