Laboratory Technician
Location: Longcliffe, BrassingtonSalary: Competitive
Hours: Full time (part-time position may be considered)
Established in 1927, our client is the UK’s leading independent supplier of limestone powder, granules and aggregates. As one of the few remaining independent hard rock quarries in England, and one of the largest still family owned. We employ over 170 people, including those whose families also have worked with us for generations, and many of their employees have been with the company for over 25 years.
The role:
An exciting opportunity has opened for a Laboratory Technician to join their dedicated team. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of their products and ensuring quality throughout the production process.
Main duties:
- Routine chemical and physical analysis of products utilising both modern and traditional methods, other lab tests and product sampling duties as required by the needs of the business moving forward
- Product and environmental sampling and quality control duties in line with company procedures
- Accurate maintenance of testing and inspection records in accordance with all relevant quality and environmental standards to which the company subscribes
- Lab work to be performed with high integrity and in line with agreed schedules, in order to satisfy the needs of the business and ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Site monitoring duties undertaken to satisfy the Environmental Management System, Planning Conditions or Permit to Operate as instructed by the Lab Supervisor
- Liaise with other departments, as necessary, with regards customer samples, and technical data
- Attend and participate in daily meetings, technical meetings and other meetings as required
Skills and Qualifications:
- Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental Practices
- Flexibility to undertake a range of tasks
- Team player and flexible ‘can do’ attitude
- Willingness to learn and develop is essential
- Basic IT skills and good communicator
- Good numeracy and literacy skills required
- An interest in science and the mineral extraction industry
