Job Description
The Trust is seeking an Executive Director of Human Resources to join the leadership team and play a critical role in shaping the future of the Trust.As Executive Director of Human Resources, you will lead the strategic HR function across the Trust, ensuring effective policies, processes, and systems are in place to support their goals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive people strategy to attract, retain, and develop exceptional talent
- Overseeing workforce planning, performance management, and staff development across the Trust
- Providing expert advice on employment law, policy development, and HR compliance to senior leaders, including the CEO and Board of Trustees
- Operational Oversight:
- Leading on recruitment, induction, and on-boarding processes, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment standards
- Managing employee relations, including complex cases, restructuring, and organisational change
- Ensuring that HR policies and the Single Central Register are up-to-date and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements
- Collaboration and Support:
- Working closely with school leaders, trade unions, and external partners to foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
- Coordinating with the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure alignment of HR strategies with financial planning
- Promoting staff well-being and engagement, embedding initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction and retention
The Successful Applicant
About You:
While experience in an educational setting is desirable, it is not essential. Candidates from diverse industries with strong HR leadership experience and a proven ability to manage change and drive improvement are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will;- Be a CIPD-qualified professional with substantial HR experience, including leading teams and managing complex HR cases.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels.
- Demonstrate knowledge of employment law, safer recruitment, and compliance.
- Possess exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Be proactive, innovative, and committed to creating a positive organisational culture.
