The Cheshire & Merseyside Physiological Sciences Network is seeking to appoint a Practice Education Coordinator (PEC) for Cardiac Physiology. The practice education coordinator will work closely with the Cardiac-Physiology network and training leads across Trust Cardiac-Physiology departments and will coordinate practice education in cardiac physiology across C&M.
The Practice Education Coordinator will provide training coordination and training package development expertise, use project management skills and be responsible for the development and implementation of a C&M echocardiography supervisor/educator collaborative.The role will also coordinate the development of cardiac physiology training packages for Echocardiography Training Programme students.
The role will support the development of a workforce plan for physiological sciences and provide expert workforce and training advice and guidance in the development of the plan.
The post holder will work collaboratively with Trust echocardiography training leads, Cardiac-Physiology network lead, NHS England workforce and training leads and develop strong links with education establishments and other Health Care Scientists.
Main duties of the job
To focus on Echocardiography training as a priority area
To develop a supervisor/educator collaborative or network across C&M. The purpose of this network will be to support the education supervisors in each Trust.
The post holder will coordinate the development of the following areas via the educator collaborative:
- development of a training package which will broaden the Echocardiography Training Programme students general cardiac physiology knowledge base;
- review and update preceptorship guidance documentation;
- development of training/career pathways for cardiac physiologists;
- develop strong links with Universities and Academies for continued provision of apprentice pathways at all levels
To contribute to the development of a Physiological Science workforce strategy.
To lead workforce planning and training needs analysis for the Cardiac Physiology network.
To promote best practice in training and education across Physiological Sciences

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- BSc (Hons) in Cardiac physiology, or equivalent experience.
- RCCP / AHCS registration
- Evidence of CPD
- Teaching and Assessing qualification or willing to work towards or equivalent experience
- Post Graduate Qualification in cardiac physiology or education
- MSc qualification or working towards in a relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge/specialist training
- Management/Leadership qualification
- ARTP certification, or equivalent
- IT skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge and experience as a specialist within Cardiac Physiology techniques and teaching/training
- Partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders
- In depth knowledge of training needs of Cardiac physiology staff
- Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of training accreditation requirement in a clinical diagnostic setting
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant physiologist training and education legislation and guidance.
- Experience in building effective working relationships
- Ability to assimilate data, produce reports and present complex information clearly to Trust and system management groups
- Awareness of current trends in Cardiac Physiology .
- Experience of working with current undergraduate programmes
- Advanced knowledge of the latest cardiac physiology regulation
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience at management level (including experience at Band 7 equivalent or above) in a health sector role.
- Experience of working with clinicians in supporting evidence based practice
- Experience in providing expert clinical opinion to students
- Experience of working in clinical networks and collaborative working groups
- Experience in working with multiple stakeholders managing relationships and working with diverse groups.
- Experience in developing training packages.
- Team management experience. Supervision/teaching of students or other learners
- Previous involvement in introducing new working practices
- Evidence of leading the implementation of new ways of working and demonstrating measurable improvements
- Experience of presenting reports, managing feedback and questions at Senior management committees
- Presentation, research and audit experience.
