Part Time Qualified Accountant - School
Your new company
You will be working for an independent school in Birmingham who provide a strong education allowing young people to fulfil their potential for children from 2 years - 18 years old.
The role will be reporting to the Schools Business Manager
Your new role
To support the Business Manager and be responsible for efficient and accurate preparation and presentation of financial records and management information.
Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare Statutory Financial Statements, including profit and loss and balance sheet accounts
- Produce termly management accounts
- Produce quarterly VAT returns
- Compile accruals and prepayment schedules
- Produce annual cash flow forecast and update monthly
- Reconcile all accounts in FMS ensuring completion of journals and adequate record keeping by responsible team members
- Assist with the production of annual budgets
- Complete and reconcile monthly bank reconciliations
- Reconcile payroll accounts and carry out journal input as required
- Carry out month end and year end processes in SIMS and FMS
- Maintain deposits spreadsheet
- Maintain school asset register
- Assist with producing financial commentaries as required
- Attend and present at Finance Committee meetings as required
- Monitor and evaluate financial information systems and make recommendations for improvements
- Provide guidance on the implementation of corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
The role is for 3 days per week ideally Tuesday / Wednesday and Thursday but this is flexible.
Qualfiied accountant or qualified by experience
School / education or charity experience
All rounder with both financial accounting and management accounting experience
Ability to be hands on but also attend and represent the school in senior meetings
