We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs in a Primary School in Cardiff. You will work closely with the child to create a positive, nurturing learning environment and ensure they receive the guidance they need to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support for a child with ALN, ensuring their individual educational and emotional needs are met.
- Assist with classroom activities and help the child engage with the curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to develop and implement personalised learning strategies.
- Encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour in the child.
- Monitor and record the child’s progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
- Support the child during break times and extra-curricular activities as required.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or desire to get stuck in and hit the ground running.
- A patient, empathetic approach with excellent communication skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and families.
- A positive attitude and commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all pupils.
- Understanding of ALN and strategies to support children with a range of needs (training will be provided).
Desirable:
- Experience working in a school or childcare setting.
