Opportunities within this role include: To develop skills on critical care, surgical wards, paediatrics and in medical specialities. Supervising Junior staff in their development and progression within their roles. Working as a Multidisciplinary team within the Trust with excellent links and support from our respiratory consultants. You will need to have Specialist knowledge, experience and an interest in Respiratory Physiotherapy and be willing to work in a variety of areas.
You will be required to be an autonomous practitioner, to be up to date with evidence-based practice and be able to assess and treat patients who are acutely unwell and have complex needs. You can develop clinical skills through regular supervision, internal and external professional development opportunities as well as training through our state-of-the-art simulation suite. There will be opportunities to develop your skills as a clinical supervisor with students, Junior Therapists and Therapy Clinical Support Workers.We have close links with our Peninsula colleagues across the South West. We are not afraid of adopting new techniques, as shown by the introduction of our ultrasound-guided injection therapy in Orthopaedic and Neurology pathways. We are continuing to develop the Respiratory Outpatient Therapy Service. The inpatient team has completed a quality improvement project using a Therapy bike resulting in patients benefiting from increased rehabilitation time, improved mood, engagement and muscle strength.

The post holder is required to work on the Respiratory on call rota in the evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
