Job overview
This is an extremely exciting opportunity for Band 4 Recovery Trainer within the Recovery and Wellbeing College
The Recovery and Wellbeing College is the first co - produced, peer led service in the NHS in Wales and sits within Mental Health services. The College offers an educative setting for our students who include service users, people with lived experience, family members, carers and professionals, to develop knowledge and skills to support with mental health challenges and overall wellbeing.The 3 guiding principles of the College are hope, control and opportunity and these are fundamental elements of both peer support and co - production.
The successful candidate will work within the Recovery College to promote, develop and embed the principles of recovery orientated practice across the organisation, assist in the co-production of design and delivery of a range of recovery focussed courses and workshops for our students.
This role will involve undertaking one to one individual learning appointments to help students identify and overcome any specific learning challenges and discuss their specific goals in relation to their involvement with the Recovery and Wellbeing College.This will also involve an awareness and use of Health & Wellbeing plans across all sectors within the College.
The role will involve intentionally sharing the knowledge from own lived experience, inspiring. hope and belief in others that recovery is possible.
Main duties of the job
To work within the Recovery and Wellbeing College to assist in the co-production of design and delivery, of a range of recovery focussed courses and workshops for service users and their supporters and staff.To work within the spirit of co-production and co delivery for all presentations & courses
To work closely with the Service Lead for Recovery, the Clinical Leads and other Service Leads, Recovery and Wellbeing College Development Group, staff Trainers and the Peer Lead to promote, develop and embed the principles of recovery orientated practice across the organisation
To participate in developing and coordinating the training development needs of Peer Support Workers within the UHB
To increase the awareness and use of Health & Wellbeing plans across all service lines
To co-design, deliver, evaluate and register accredited programmes / courses within the Recovery and Wellbeing College.
Through sharing the knowledge from own lived experience, inspire hope and belief in others that recovery is possible.
To support the Recovery and Wellbeing College in assisting the co-production of design and delivery, of a range of recovery focussed courses and workshops for service users and their supporters and staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Delivery of Learning and Development Activities
To co-deliver a range of complex and sensitive recovery focused courses/workshops/ 1:1 sessions for service users, their supporters andTo be involved in developing written training support material for new courses as well as updating existing materials to reflect changes to procedures and policies within the Recovery and Wellbeing College.
To support the evaluation of the Recovery and Wellbeing College training programmes and contribute to on-going design of further programmes.
To co-facilitate courses with other Recovery Trainers relating to subjects which may be sensitiveTo work with Recovery and Wellbeing College staff to ensure quality assurance of all courses and training.
To work within a coaching paradigm and adhere to the core principles of an educational approach in all courses. This will include co-producing and reviewing ‘learning agreements’ with students, supporting them to work towards personal goals , objectives and outcomes (using outcome measurement where indicated) relating to their personal recovery journey, social inclusion and participation in meaningful activities.
To identify and address additional learning supports that students may need to have to enable them to undertake and complete Works with co-facilitator to identify any emotional issues and takes to supervision.To identify and implement risk/safety assessment and management strategies where unpredictable dynamics with students may occur and report any incidents to the Recovery and Wellbeing College Peer Lead.
To work with the diverse needs of the student group (service users, carers and staff) and to adapt teaching and communication style in response to the audience’s level of need and Communicate with a range of people on a range of topics and during course delivery that is appropriate to learning.

Communication
To communicate and liaise with a range of peers and professionals within the UHB, including professionals, managers, peer support workers, as well as external agencies and other appropriate Demonstrates empathy when working with students who may be staff, service users or carers.

Service Delivery and Development
Working closely with the college staff and wider stakeholders (Health, Local Authority, Third Sector, service users, carers), the post holder will provide peer input to meetings, and presentations / training.To be involved in the development, implementation and review of practice, policy and guidelines of the Recovery and Wellbeing College.

To set up any training room to the highest standard to provide an environment suited to learning, by ensuring it is clean and tidy.To ensure that any fault with training environment will be reported to the Recovery and Wellbeing College Administrator.
To produce and keep up to date all support material for learning initiatives, ensuring that all documentation is current and accurate; clearly identifiable to other staff and available when required.
To contribute to the development of alternative approaches to learning in line with the Recovery and Wellbeing College developments. The classroom is not the only way to learn: Distance Learning, E Learning, Workshops, Seminars or self-help guides, Drop-In sessions, Email support or Manuals can also be used to pass knowledge onto learners.

Knowledge of factors pertaining to community working (e.g. lone working, risk assessment). Knowledge of the principles of recovery and social inclusion Knowledge of issues relating to safeguarding. Understanding of the social challenges facing people with mental health issues (for example employment, education, housing and finances).

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Relevant experience plus additional training and /or experience in peer support. Evidence of on-going personal development Commitment to obtain underpinning knowledge through work based learning and mandatory training. Evidence of on-going personal development NVQ Level 4, diploma or equivalent experience Peer Mentor Training or equivalent employed experience. Experience as service user or carer in mental health services.
