Nottingham University Hospitals is in one of the UK’s largest and busiest acute teaching hospital Trusts and has a national and international reputation for many of its specialist services and expertise. Including many specialist services within the surgical division such as Neurosurgery, Spinal, Intestinal Failure, HPB and Major Trauma.

The successful post holder will become an integral part of the ever growing surgical pharmacy team helping optimise medications management for patients within this area.

You will be supported in your development and career by a number of specialist senior surgical pharmacists as well as the wider pharmacy team at NUH.

You will be responsible for working directly with the wider MDT to deliver safe and effective treatment to patients within the surgical specialties at NUH.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated clinical pharmacist to take on responsibility for helping enhance pharmacy input into patient care within the trust. There will also be opportunities to be involved in project and audit work to develop your own skills whilst enhancing patient care.

If you don’t already have an independent prescribing qualification then there may be an opportunity to apply for this course, which you will be supported through.

As a senior member of the pharmacist team there will be the opportunity to help support and mentor the junior members of the team. You will be supported by the ever growing number of specialist pharmacists working in the area as well as being able to call upon the support of the large pharmacy department at NUH.

The pharmacy department at NUH is forward thinking and constantly implementing innovative ways of working to deliver the best possible patient care. We continue to extend the ideal model of delivering medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical care where pharmacists are fully integrated in to the medical teams, supported by a team of medicines management technicians and assistants.

You will be joining NUH at an exciting time as we have just recently implemented electronic prescribing within the trust.

The post will be based predominantly at the Queens Medical centre, but there may be the expectation to travel to the City Hospital campus on occasions. If one site would be preferred then please let us know at the interview. The role will be mainly Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm, but these hours are negotiable.

You will also be required to participate in a rostered weekend and bank holiday rota. In addition to this there is a requirement to support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota.

Please refer to the full job description as part of the advert. If you have any further questions about the post please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mike Hey on the contact details provided.

This advert closes on Monday 14 Oct 2024
