What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Reading. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place.

We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.

Job details

Role: SEN Tutor
Pay: £30 - 38 per hour
Location: Reading
Contract: Part-time

Working hours: 2 hours per day, 2 days per week (during school hours)

About the role

We are looking for a tutor to support a 16 year old young man in Reading. He is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD and has found it tricky to adjust to school life and expectations. He can sometimes find it challenging to manage difficult situations and build trusting relationships with those around him.

The main goal of tuition is to aid with core GCSEs so that he is able to achieve these qualifications.

Our pupil is an intelligent and sociable young man who enjoys spending time with friends and listening to music. He is known to have a great sense of humour and gets along well with people he has worked with 1:1. We would love to find a tutor who is able to support this young man with his academics and also make learning fun and engaging, to rebuild his confidence in learning and school again.

About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: ASD, ADHD, demand avoidance
  • You’ll have experience helping pupil progress in their academic learning
  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
