The role

We are seeking a forward-thinking, hands-on, Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will provide technical networking leadership across the organization, responsible for managing and supporting new and existing networking solutions within IQUW Groups corporate network.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead by example, ensuring the network is resilient, secure, and that best practice applied where appropriate. You will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies and become the SME for the team, imparting knowledge to others and ensuring that documentation maintained to a high standard.

We are extending our Cloud capability, and this role will have the opportunity to learn and grow skills in Azure Cloud networking and automation capabilities.

This role is offered on a remote basis, with occasional travels to site required.

Key responsibilities
  • Transform the legacy network estate, using modern technologies to drive cloud first strategy.
  • Directly engage and manage 3rd party/outsourced support/vendor relationships and escalations.
  • Design, project manage and technically implement new networking technologies into the enterprise in line with required standards and SLA’s.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Network support including operational, incident/problem/change management.
  • Monitor Network support queues ensuring potential issues are addressed and or escalated where required.
  • Keeping all BAU and project network related documentation (including LAN/WAN diagrams, asset inventory, process and procedural) accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure network patch management is undertaken and that relevant system firmware, application software and IOS are periodic reviewed and upgrade (for Bug fixes, Security vulnerabilities, feature provision and vendor version recommended).
  • Working as a technical lead within the infrastructure team on complex problems where analysis of network traffic (packet captures, Wireshark data, tcpdumps) are required.
  • Act as a point of escalation within the team for more junior engineers.
  • Be available to attend IQUW premises or datacentre as necessary to audit the network and perform physical tasks as necessary.
  • Qualifications, skills and experience
  • Strong experience and appreciation of Network design considering scalability, capacity, resiliency, DR, including cloud networking.
  • Experience supporting multi-site MPLS connectivity and Express Route.
  • Strong experience in configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols – RIP, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP, BGP.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles such as NAT, policy-based routing, spanning tree.
  • Strong experience in deploying, managing, and upgrading Cisco routers and switches.
  • Strong experience managing firewalls, preferably ASA, Forti and cloud-based appliances such as Azure firewall.
  • Network segmentation and user profiling using tools such as Cisco ISE.
  • Experience with supporting Cisco Wireless APs and controllers.
  • Experience, deploying and troubleshooting remote access VPN technologies such as Cisco secure client.
  • Experience proactively monitoring network performance and reporting capacity issues.
  • Strong experience in configuring and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, PKI/Certificates, Encryption.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting QoS.
  • Exposure and appreciation of common infrastructure technologies (VMware, Linux, Active Directory, Microsoft Server OS’s, Load balancing, SAN’s etc).
  • Experience in liaising and managing third party vendors and technologies for support, escalation, reviews/discussions, and procurement.
  • Ability to review processes and procedures – and improve them.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills (technical and non-technical).
  • Exposure to IP Telephony systems.
  • Experience working within BAU, problem and change environments following ITIL & industry best practices frameworks.
  • Candidates with CCNP (Routing and Switching/ Security) preferred, as are those with Azure Cloud Networking AZ-700
