Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our friendly team in the Community setting.
This role requires excellent communication skills and it is essential that you have the ability to work on your own initiative and can work independently
The department is committed to support continuous education and professional development.
As this job is community based, you will need to be car driver with access to your own vehicle as part of your role.
Main duties of the job
Your role will involve working independently and as part of a team to provide support to the Nursing staff and you will be part of a highly dedicated multi-disciplinary team with a focus to provide high, safe quality care for patients in their own homes.You will be required to participate in providing cover that includes evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
As part of your role you will also be supported to complete extended training in clinical skills such as insulin administration, Clexane injections and bladder washouts, alongside the other areas of your role.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

QUALIFICATION
Essential criteria- Care Certificate
- NVQ level 3
experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of working with community nurses

Essential criteria- Evidence of recent training
