About this Role
We are seeking to appoint a music teacher with QTS (ECTS are very welcome to apply) who is passionate about their subject and has the ability to teach Music to KS3 and KS4 students.

Extra-curricular music
The music department is passionate about the value of extra- curricular music to the whole student population and not just accomplished musicians. The successful candidate will enthusiastically help to further develop these activities and participate in them.We have growing extra-curricular provision including concerts, bi-annual school productions, musical ensembles and opportunities with the feeder primary schools as well as within the community.
Musical ensembles at Faringdon Community College currently are Band Club, FCCVocalists and FCC Concert Band.
We also have a strong team of student ‘Music Ambassadors’ who help in the department and have taken on a leadership role.
Our team of visiting music teachers are a very important part of the whole school music offering.
Trips and workshops
We run regular trips and workshops as a department. Highlights in the last year have included:
- Concert Band rehearsal with the Royal Marines Band Service.
- Workshop day with British Army Band, Sandhurst.
- Performance in school from a Royal Air Force saxophone ensemble.
- Tours of the Royal Albert Hall.
- KS3 Concert hosted by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
- GCSE Concert hosted by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
- Regular workshops with local professional composers.
Performance
Our students have many performance opportunities throughout the year. We have regular informal ‘Concert and Cake’ performances which take place three times in the year. This is a relaxed environment in which students can develop their performance skills and confidence.We regularly perform at our feeder Primary schools as well as care homes and in the town centre at ‘Folly Fest’.
In December, we hosted our first music department concert since before Covid-19. This is going to become a regular themed concert’. The theme this year was ‘A Night at The Movies’.
The successful candidate will be;- able to teach KS3 and KS4 with QTS. Applications from ECTs are very welcome.
