Academic Coach and Moderator (Part Time)

Leeds City College are recruiting for an Academic Support Coach to join our team in the Department of Music and Performance Production based at our Quarry Hill Campus. This role is part time, 22.2 hours per week.

This is an opportunity to join our experienced and passionate team based at the Quarry Hill Campus at Leeds City College, part of the Luminate Education Group. The department of Music and Performance Production has more than 500 learners, predominantly 16-18 years old, studying Musical Theatre, Music Production, Dance, Music, Theatre Design and Production, and Acting.

The state of the art campus opened in September 2019, and is home to fantastic facilities including the 180 seat Chroma-Q theatre; 5 dance studios; 2 recording studios; TV production facilities; screening room; practice rooms; and Theatre Design workshops.

We are looking for committed, creative and innovative colleagues who are excited by the possibilities that working in our team will offer.

What You Will Do
  • As an Academic Coach, you will work with learners across the department who are practically skilled but in need of specific and targeted support with their written work.
  • You will liaise with the Course leaders of each programme to identify the learners for whom support will have the greatest impact. You will then manage the case load of learners as it varies depending on the assessment cycle.
  • In addition you will act as the department moderator for the Arts Award qualifications delivered to our Academy learners. You will complete the relevant Arts Award training and then act as advisor to the delivery team to ensure that all portfolios meet the required standard.

  • A background in a relevant Creative Arts discipline.
  • Notable experience in the further education sector.

  • Experience of moderation process would be an advantage
