Senior Project Manager (Children’s Social Care)

Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35, umbrella)

Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite

Duration: 6 months initially with potential to be extended beyond that

Senior Project Manager to join an embedded transformation team responsible for the implementation of transformation programmes and projects in Nottingham’s Children’s Social Care, Family Help, Education and SEND services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of an Operating Model across the Children’s Services Directorate
  • Responsibilities will include the full range of PM support for implementation including support to senior Service, HR and Transformation colleagues for all aspects of implementation from launch to successful implementation
  • Lead and deliver projects within Children and Education Services Transformation Programme
  • Manage service improvement projects and workstreams across Fostering, Children in Care, Leaving Care and First Response
  • Ensure projects meet agreed objectives, deliverables, outcomes and benefits, including improved outcomes for children and families and reduced costs
  • Develop and maintain Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), business cases and delivery plans
  • Produce and present monthly highlight reports, updates and performance information
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and benefits realisation
  • Lead change management activity to embed a continuous improvement culture
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies and mitigations
  • Provide clear, structured reporting to the Transformation Delivery Lead and senior stakeholders

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience delivering transformation and service improvement projects within Children’s Social Care
  • Strong change management capability in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience working with senior leaders (Directors, Heads of Service) and operational teams
  • Professional Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMP or equivalent)
  • Strong experience producing PIDs, business cases and highlight reports
  • Confident managing KPIs, benefits, costs and delivery milestones
  • Background in non-IT transformation projects within local authority Children’s Services
