will be contributing to the development, implementation, and management of all requirements
of the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood Risk Regulations 2009 Flood and Water Management
Act 2010 with a principal focus around ordinary watercourse consents, Land Drainage Bylaw
delivering the management of flood risk for the authority the FRM team undertake a wide
Flood Risk Management (NFM), Sustainable Drainage (SuDs), Property Flood
Resilience/Resistance (PFR) measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate
Environmental Engineering, Environmental
Science, or a similar discipline.
Knowledge of Drainage and/or Flood Risk Management
Knowledge of ICT.
Welsh Language Level 1 – All employees
will be required to undertake a basic Welsh
Qualified to Degree level in Civil or
Environmental Engineering, Environmental
Science, or a similar discipline.
Knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering.

The post-holderwill be contributing to the development, implementation, and management of all requirements
of the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood Risk Regulations 2009 Flood and Water Management
Act 2010 with a principal focus around ordinary watercourse consents, Land Drainage Bylaw
Consents and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDs) Approvals.
Purpose of the post: The Flood Risk Management (FRM) Team are responsible for managing the local flood risk
of approximately 240,000 residents in one of the highest flood risk areas in Wales. Indelivering the management of flood risk for the authority the FRM team undertake a wide
range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management
Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991:- Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
- Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
- Flood Investigations,
- Asset Management,
- Sustainable Drainage Approval,
- Flooding Awareness and Communication.
Flood Risk Management (NFM), Sustainable Drainage (SuDs), Property Flood
Resilience/Resistance (PFR) measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate
flooding from ‘local sources’ (Surface Water, Ground Water and Ordinary Watercourses).
Knowledge / Education: Essential
Qualified to HNC/HND level in Civil orEnvironmental Engineering, Environmental
Science, or a similar discipline.
Knowledge of Drainage and/or Flood Risk Management
Knowledge of ICT.
Welsh Language Level 1 – All employees
will be required to undertake a basic Welsh
Language Induction to reach this level
DesirableQualified to Degree level in Civil or
Environmental Engineering, Environmental
Science, or a similar discipline.
Knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering.
