We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community wishing to join a workforce which embraces difference and welcomes everyone.

As Senior Project Manager you’ll have accountability for delivering one of the largest projects in the Environment Agency, the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier. A £250million project protecting 11,300 homes and 1500 business from flooding.

It will be your exceptional project management skills and experience that sets you apart, an engineering background will be a distinct advantage. You will be qualified to degree level and hold a relevant professional project management qualification.

You will also be chartered with a relevant professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APMP).

You will be focused on the delivery of the barrier itself while providing a deputy role to the Project Executive when required, providing a source of trusted support and advice to other members of our project management team.

Naturally, you will build excellent collaborative relationships, shaping thinking and activity across the programme lifecycle. You will be joining an existing collaborative team, your role will create and foster strong working relationships with client and supply chain.

Initially, you will focus solely on delivery of the barrier until its completion in 2029, however as a member of the broader south-west hub of project managers you will be called on to support other flood or coastal erosion schemes.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

The Bridgwater Tidal Barrier team (a diverse group of EA staff, consultants and contractors) work towards a common purpose of delivering the barrier scheme.

You will work alongside other Environment Agency project managers delivering elements including downstream defences, site management, utilities and fish and eel passes.
