An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHFT to work across offering healthcare within HMP Peterborough. The post holder would be working as an active member of the NHFT team. We recognise that many individuals have experienced a multitude of traumatic experiences.

This role will be about embedding a trauma informed compassionate care model of delivery of care.

HMP Peterborough is a local Category B prison. It is England’s only dual purpose-built prison for men and women, who are kept separate at all times. The prison is located in the city of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, and accommodates up to 360 females including young adults, and over 800 men.

The prison is operated by Sodexo Justice Services.

Main duties of the job

This role will be to offer provision of psychological interventions and provide input from a psychological perspective to individuals in prison with difficulties with mental health and/ or substance use. The role will look at how to creatively offer support to men and women in the prison where talking about their problems may feel difficult.

To supervise and oversee the work of an Assistant Psychologists as well as work closely with the multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing staff. The successful post holder will develop trauma informed practice using up to date research and develop an evidence base.
