In order to support the Facilities Teams based at Rampton Hospital we are looking to recruit to our Facilities Bank, working on a flexible basis on 'as and when' basis when shifts become available.

Based at Rampton Hospital the Facilities Services Team aim to provide a high-quality service that enhances the environment of care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

Facilities provides a wide range of non clinical support services to patients, staff and visitors. The services provided include Housekeeping/Domestic, Catering and Portering.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Housekeeping/Domestic duties on all wards, including cleaning, maintenance of ward cupboard and linen provisions. Off ward cleaning as required including hospital accommodation, office areas and training venues.

Providing all catering services across the hospital site including all patient meals and for the staff restaurant. Ensuring All equipment, utensils, working surfaces and areas to be kept clean and tidy, using correct cleaning methods, equipment and chemicals.

Portering services includes delivering and collecting various items from around the hospital, delivery of food trolleys, and the internal postal service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • An understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised catering ,cleaning or support services qualification

Training

Essential criteria
  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site
  • Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and awareness of special diets and allergens
  • Basic understanding of Infection Control
  • Understanding of the responsibility relating to H&S at work and COSHH
  • Knowledge of NHS policy & procedures

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description
Desirable criteria
  • Experience or working within a catering, cleaning or portering environment
  • Experience of working within healthcare environment which may include: a catering, cleaning or portering function
  • Experience of working within a food safety management system (HACCP)

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to use own initiative to manage the requirements of the job
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
