Your new role
This role will have you working within and managing a multi-disciplinary design office where you will become a pivotal member of the team, working effectively as an interface between and to both client and design teams to maximise project buildability on all design matters.The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of the design process across various projects from inception to completion. This will include liaising with clients, client's agents and end users to develop the design through concept, planning, manufacturing, on-site and handover.
Design will be completed by both internal design teams but also external consultancies. Projects typically range from £0.5m to £30m+ and can be delivered across a number of sectors, but primarily education, healthcare, commercial and residential.
General overview of duties / responsibilities;- Ownership of the design and design process from inception to completion.
- Develop and manage design programmes in line with the project programme and ensure all design information is delivered on time
- To attend internal and external meetings, including chairing and accurately minute as necessary, ensuring distribution to relevant parties
- Resource management of internal and external design teams
- Detailed review of all design drawings and information in accordance with Building Regulations, employers requirements, statutory bodies and buildability requirements.
- Review design proposals from internal and external consultants ensuring the most competitive and effective solution is arrived at.
- Support Procurement and QS Department in evaluation of alternative design solutions offered by subcontractors.
- Research and develop new products for alternative forms of construction.
- Monitor and manage Health & Safety and CDM issues.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will be an established Design Coordinator / Design Manager with 5+ years of design-related experience with a good track record of Project Management over £multi-million works.
The wider design team comprises professionals from an Architectural Technology background
- so it would be ideal if you were too.
You'll have in-depth knowledge of construction & building methodologies, to include Building Regulations, Building Bulletins, HTMs and planning policy.
To be successful, you'll need people management and leadership skills, effective time management and communication and be able to use 3D software (ArchiCAD / Revit / Solibri)
- or be able to interpret / critique / challenge drawing packages completed in such
