Located in a grade II listed building at the heart of the evolving Salford cultural quarter, The Old Fire Station and the co-located Lark Hill Brewery (The University’s own micro-brewery) has an internal capacity of 50 covers with additional external capacity of 50 covers (weather dependent) serving University staff, students and the general public.
We are looking for a Barista/Supervisor with a passion for coffee, a warm personality, a great attitude, someone that’s proactive, with an eye for quality, detail, speed, and service, and looking to develop their management skills.
What does the role involve?
The Barista/Supervisor is responsible for making high-quality beverages and managing the front-of-house team.
You must :
be willing and able to work with and handle all types of food including, but not limited to, dairy, meat, and pork-based products, and be able to taste all products to ensure quality.have excellent customer service and communication skills, a commitment to quality, cleanliness, and hygiene. You will provide the primary Barista service and be responsible for running and managing the small front-of-house team, setting and running shifts, while ensuing smooth customer-focused service.
Key responsibilities will include :
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of coffee and educate the front-of-house team about these coffees
Consistently making well-crafted, beautifully presented and tasty beverages including coffee (grinding, dialling in, pulling shots, steaming and pouring milk), teas and other beveragesLead and motivate the front-of-house team in a high-level of customer service, setting and running shifts, and instilling professionalism and attention to detail in all aspects of service.
Ensure effective and timely ordering, receipt, safe storage and stock rotation of all commodities used, and performing regular stocktaking
Monitor revenue, and profit and loss to ensure the business is focused on achieving GP% and is able to pro-actively react to opportunities and any adversity that impacts on targets
