Behaviour Support Assistant - Liverpool

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants with experience in working with children and/or adults who can display challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting children’s mental health, and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment. The successful TA will be working closely with staff and pupils in order to effectively assist and guide pupils through any challenges they may have.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for pupils, focusing on emotion strategial regulation, and self-care techniques.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor pupil's progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teacher in managing the behaviour and specialist needs of the young people.

Qualifications:

  • Team Teach trained, or willing to partake in a 2 day Team Teach training course.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
