Medical Equipment Technician
Job overview
The Clinical Engineering Department provides a medical equipment management service to the Trust and various other healthcare organisations within the East Yorkshire region.
We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Equipment Technician to join the service team based at Castle Hill Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The duties will involve, but not restricted to, acceptance testing of new equipment, electrical safety testing, carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of medical equipment.
Applicants must have a minimum of HNC/HND (or time served equivalent) in an appropriate engineering or science discipline, or have undergone a recognised formal technical training program and have demonstrable experience of working in a technical service support role.
Previous experience of working with medical equipment is desirable but not essential as suitable training will be given to the successful candidates.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- HNC or equivalent qualification in an appropriate science or engineering subject or time served equivalent experience
- Have satisfied the requirements for State Registration as a Clinical Technologist
- Degree in Clinical Technology or its equivalent (eg an appropriate science or engineering degree or HND plus a period of clinical technology training and experience – 2-3 years)
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Have an understanding of electonic instrumentation
- Demonstrates a knowledge of electrical safety testing and measurable parameters
- Computer literate, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to communicate verbally, over the telephone and in writing
- Possess knowledge of electrical safety within a patient environment.
- Understanding of medical equipment safety issues
- Familiar with computer databases and data recording systems
Experience
Essential criteria- 2-3 years technical service support experience on electronic or electro-mechanical equipment
- Possess experience as a Clinical Technologist
