Job overview

Newcastle Treatment & Recovery (NTaR) currently has a Band 5 vacancy for an experienced professional to work full time in a service offering support to those experiencing substance misuse difficulties. The job sits in Newcastle Treatment and Recovery Service based at Plummer Court Newcastle.

Main duties of the job

This post sits within the Day Unit Partial Hospitalisation Treatment Team and the post holder will deliver clinical based interventions to a variety of adults who have varying levels of need who require support to achieve recovery from substance use.

The role will involve supporting substance use patients to begin their recovery journey to achieve abstinence from drugs or alcohol.

This involves working within a highly experienced multi disciplinary team of substance use professionals and will require a significant amount of controlled drug administration on a daily basis.

You will also support and manage the care of patient attending daily for support during and after an alcohol detox.

Patients can access the service between 9:30 am and 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 11:00am and 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

We also run a needle exchange service on an evening and weekend

There is no nightshift requirement in this role

It is strongly recommended that you request to visit the unit prior to interview for an understanding of the role and service.

Support and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate on an ongoing basis to help you to learn and achieve excellence in your role and there are opportunities for further training in physical health areas such as carrying out ECGs and venepuncture in order to support our Physical health team.
