This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Estates Department as a Mechanical Engineer.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will provide a comprehensive building services mechanical function and to manage estates capital projects.

What you’ll do

Provide Expert Mechanical Engineering Advice: Offer professional and proactive guidance on mechanical engineering services, conduct condition surveys, and develop maintenance plans to support medium-term financial forecasting.

Stay Informed on Legislation and Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices in building services engineering and project management. Act as the authorized/responsible person for mechanical services installations across the estate.

Lead and Manage Projects: Ensure that the organization’s requirements, as specified by service users and stakeholders, are thoroughly captured, rigorously challenged, confirmed by the project owner, and documented.

Contribute to Feasibility Studies: Assist in producing feasibility studies, prepare initial design information, provide advice, and recommend specialist input when necessary.

Design and Documentation: Perform design work for projects and services, prepare drawings, specifications, and other tender documents to clearly convey the scope and content of the works or services.

What you’ll bring

Educational Background: A degree in building services engineering or a related field or alternatively 10 years of experience in building services engineering.

Professional Membership: Membership (or active pursuit of membership) in a relevant professional body.
Continuous Professional Development: Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Planning and Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and organise effectively to meet objectives.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work within a specialist team, providing relevant advice and guidance as needed.
Contractor and Supplier Management: Proven ability to manage contractors and suppliers to achieve organizational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to understand and align with organizational requirements from diverse stakeholders.

Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate requirements and desired outcomes to contractors and service providers.

Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
