Job overview
We are looking for an HCPC registered dietitian with experience of working in critical care to join our team as the ICU Specialist Dietitian for our ICU unit on a permanent basis.
The role will be primarily based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital which has up to 20 intensive care beds but the post holder will be expected to provide cover, when needed, at West Middlesex Hospital which has up to 12 intensive care beds.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as an integral member of the critical care multidisciplinary teams, providing a highly specialist clinical dietetic service to patients on our intensive care units.
The post holder will work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams to optimise care and implement highly specialised enteral and parenteral nutrition.
The post holder will be integral to promoting a high quality service to individuals requiring specialist intensive care needs and ensure that the services provided promote respect, dignity and equality for all people.
The post holder will develop, implement and evaluate policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of patients attending the clinical area in conjunction with the specialist MDT teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To manage a highly complex caseload of patients on the critical care unit and support outpatient clinics as appropriate, act as clinical lead and co-ordinate service improvement projects in this area.
To manage a highly complex caseload of patients requiring parenteral nutrition, assisting in service improvement projects in this area.
To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of work, including the management of patients in your care.
To be able to carry and prioritise your own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision. To monitor caseloads of other staff when deputising for the Band 8 during short periods of leave.

Essential
Essential criteria- HCPC Registration
- Relevant post registration experience at Band 6 level in core areas
- Experience in line Management and able to be deputised to department management
- Wide variety of clinical experience in TPN and ICU
- Experience of working as part of the MDT in clinical practice
- The ability to clinically reason the application of appropriate assessment and treatment techniques in a variety of clinical settings
- Identifies challenges of working in varying hospital settings and demonstrates the ability to adapt own practice accordingly
- Member of special interest group
- Experience as a qualified dietitian in specialist areas
