SEN Department Manager (KS4/5) | Secondary School | Northampton

We need a SEN Department Manager to join a thriving secondary school in Northampton. This is an exciting newly created role designed to support the SEN department within a busy and dynamic school environment.

With 1,200 students (Years 7-11) and a dedicated team of 165 teaching and support staff, the school prides itself on its inclusive and supportive approach to education. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SENDCo, organising and overseeing SEN provision for students in Key Stages 4 and 5, as well as managing the SEN Inclusion Room.

  • Manage, review, and ensure quality assurance of Individual Healthcare Plans.
  • Coordinate external professional support such as physiotherapists, social workers, and educational psychologists.
  • Lead and attend meetings with parents and external agencies when required.
  • Support students with preparation for post-16 education and transition into adulthood.
  • Act as a key worker for students with complex SEN needs, providing family support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers under the direction of the SENDCo.
  • Organise curriculum resources and lesson materials for SEN students, including those in internal exclusion.
