Data Support Services Manager (INTERNAL ONLY)

We have a 9 month fixed term opportunity for the right candidate to lead a critical team within the SWAST’s Data Analytics and Insight service. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced manager with highly developed technical skills in MS SQL Server based data analytics and reporting to join our Senior Leadership Team.
The post holder will manage an expert team of analysts who provide a vital service to SWAST by responding to a high volume of adhoc data queries for internal and external customers (including Freedom of Information Requests) and maintain the optimum state of the data warehouse and its data pipelines.
This role is only open for internal members of SWAST staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The DSS Manager leads a team of 5-10 data engineering and reporting specialists to provide business intelligence services to senior managers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
The DSS Manager is accountable for successfully operation of the Trust’s business intelligence platforms and technologies from end-to-end. This includes management and ongoing change of our data warehouse (including data sourcing from operational systems, data imports and transformation processes, metric calculations and performance
optimisation) and reporting tools (including report and dashboard design, scheduling and automation, platform administration and usage monitoring).The DSS Manager is responsible for building trusted relationships with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders across the Trust, understanding their information needs and delivering solutions that support them to optimise performance.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to a Degree level or equivalent experience in computer science or related subject.
- ITIL v4 foundation and some advanced certification.
Experience
Essential criteria- Extensive practical experience in conducting thorough data Extraction, Transformation and Load, (ETL) analysis, modelling and visualization in a work environment.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Experience of the full set of Microsoft Business Intelligence Technologies
- ITIL process management.
Skills
Essential criteria- Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical skills.
