CONSULTANT INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST

South Tees NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a permanent consultant interventional cardiologist to join our existing team of 19 consultants. This is an exciting opportunity to support the 24/7 PPCI service and deliver ACS and elective coronary intervention in a tertiary cardiac centre serving Teesside, Durham and parts of Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking cardiologist to join us and continue the development of the service. You will join a friendly, dedicated team to provide diagnostic coronary angiography, coronary intervention and general cardiology care.The department has a national reputation for consistently providing high quality care, offering a comprehensive PCI service along with all aspects of coronary intervention, and is home to an active research team. The successful applicant will work closely with Consultant Cardiologists and Consultant Cardiothoracic surgeons on The James Cook University Hospital site and with Consultant Cardiologists from referring hospitals.

Applicants should possess full GMC registration, MRCP or equivalent, and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview. Evidence of sub-specialty training in PCI, including PPCI, is essential.
This a whole time post (10 PA basis), however, candidates who are unable to work full time will be eligible to apply with the option of discussing modification of job content on appointment. The job will initially be offered on a fixed term basis for 1 year.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- On the GMC specialist register for Cardiovascular Medicine through CCT, CESR or European Community Rights. Applicants on an approved training program may apply if their expected CCT date is within 6 months of interview
- MD or PhD
- Training in appraisal techniques
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria- Evidence of advanced sub-specialty training in PCI, including PPCI
- Evidence of clinical audit
- Evidence of training and clinical experience in general cardiology
- Evidence of research or innovative service developments
- Interest in CTO PCI, CTCA, RACPC management
Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)

The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay.
