Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Design Technology Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position, beginning in March, provides an exciting opportunity to inspire students and contribute to a thriving and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Innovative Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging and creative Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, tailoring content to meet curriculum requirements and inspire students.
- Curriculum Delivery: Teach a range of Design Technology disciplines, such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, or textiles, depending on your area of expertise.
- Practical Skills Development: Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that develop students’ practical skills, technical understanding, and design thinking.
- Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and practical work.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all practical activities comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe workspace for students and staff.
- Resource Management: Maintain and manage tools, equipment, and materials efficiently, ensuring lessons are well-supported and resources are used responsibly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Design and Technology department, sharing best practices and contributing to the development of a cohesive and forward-thinking curriculum.
- Pastoral Support: Provide academic and pastoral support to students, fostering an inclusive environment where all learners feel valued and encouraged.
- Engagement: Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities, contributing to the school’s vibrant community.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification, with a specialism in Design Technology.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience teaching Design Technology in a secondary school setting, with expertise in both practical and theoretical components.
- Subject Passion: Enthusiastic about Design Technology, with a commitment to fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical proficiency in students.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of health and safety requirements related to Design Technology activities and workshops.
- Adaptable and Engaging: Skilled at differentiating lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with additional educational needs.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
