At Bitterne Park School, we believe that good nutrition is essential for learning and development. As a Catering Assistant, you will help ensure that our dining services run smoothly, contributing to a positive mealtime experience for our students.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the Head Chef.
- Serving meals to students and staff, ensuring presentation and portion control are maintained.
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas to meet health and safety standards.
- Monitoring food safety and hygiene practices at all times in accordance with school policies and regulations.
- Providing excellent customer service, answering any dietary inquiries and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere in the dining area.
- Assisting with stock control and inventory management as needed.

Grade 2 (£12.26 ph) 16.25 hours per week.
Requirements- Previous experience in a catering or food service environment is desirable but not required.
- Basic food hygiene knowledge or willingness to undertake relevant training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the kitchen and service.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods while performing kitchen duties.
