The North West Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) is one of a network of seven GLHs across the country, which together forms the new national Genomic Medicine Service. Each GLH is responsible for coordinating services for a particular part of the country
Every candidate will be expected to liaise with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally and will also be responsible for all GLH required administrative tasks commensurate with the banding of the role.
Main duties of the job
You must have good attention to detail together with the ability to prioritise your own workload to meet deadlines. Duties will include managing queries and referrals , dealing with telephone enquiries, letters, email, diaries, chasing deadlines, collation of information/results for reports and typing of clinic letters.
You should have previous secretarial experience as well as being flexible and able to work as part of a team. In return we will provide a comprehensive induction with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.

Person specification
Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria- GCSE English Language and Mathematics or equivalent qualification
- RSA, NVQ or equivalent typing and computer skills or relevant experience gained including data management
- European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
Experience
Essential criteria- Previous administrative experience
- Experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
- Experience of working in a busy office and dealing with conflicting demands
- Experience of organising meetings and taking formal minutes
- NHS/Health related administrative experience.
- Experience of Invoicing
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Knowledge of Information Governance and data protection with regard to respect for confidential information
- Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures
Skills
Essential criteria- Good verbal and written communication skills including excellent telephone manner
- Problem solving and organizational skills
