An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist with HCPC registration to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion team at RUH. Our department has recently undergone a major upgrade, with the installation of brand new analytical and pre-analytical equipment across both our Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections.
The ideal candidate will have proven post-registration experience within Haematology and Blood Transfusion and meet the full criteria of the Specialist BMS Band 6 Job Description and Person Specification. However, a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who meets the criteria of the Band 5 Job Description and Person Specification will also be considered.As a Biomedical Scientist at RUH you will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services whilst working alongside a supportive and experienced team.

- Performance of scientific and technical duties, as required, to the standard expected of a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) or Specialist BMS.
- To use and maintain the integrity of the laboratory computer systems and their databases for data entry of requests, recording and reporting all results, compiling reports and other documents, and for communication (email).
- Ensure that all analyses are performed to the highest standard using approved methods and Quality Control system.
- Carry out maintenance of analytical equipment according laboratory and supplier protocol, including recording of procedures carried out.
- Performing analytical techniques in each section of the department, recording and interpreting complex array of Quality Control data according to departmental policy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- IBMS Approved Degree
- Current HCPC registration
- Specialist Portfolio, BBTS specialist certificate or equivalent experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Working in a clinical Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion Laboratory
- Quality control and quality assurance practices
- UK Laboratory accreditation standards
- Experience of training staff
Experience
