Head of Mathematics for September 2025
We are looking for an inspirational and dedicated teacher to lead our highly successful Mathematics department from September 2025. The role is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with significant experience or an experienced Head of Department looking for a fresh challenge.
The successful applicant will have a good degree with mathematical content and will be able to teach Advanced Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Remuneration will reflect the seniority of this position within the school.
The Maths Department consists of a team of 13 enthusiastic and approachable teachers who regularly share teaching ideas and resources. The department’s priorities are to help all students to achieve their full potential and to get students enthused about mathematics.We constantly review and improve our practice and strive to be excellent teachers.
At Key Stage Three, students are set by ability from January of Year 7 and follow a programme of study aligned to, but not dependent on, the Key Stage Three National Curriculum. We are particularly proud of the recent achievements of our students at IGCSE (all students sit IGCSE mathematics in year 11) where 67% of students achieved grade 9 or grade 8 and 100% achieved 9-5.The top set in year 11 also complete AQA IGCSE Further Maths which provides excellent preparation for A level and we were delighted that 71% of pupils taking the exam achieved a grade 9 and 100% achieved 9-8.
A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics are popular options for sixth form students and last year 56% gained an A* grades in Mathematics at A level. 83% achieved grades A*/A. 73% of Further Maths students achieved an A* and 100% gained A*/A grades.We often support students with their preparation for Mathematical courses at university by encouraging them to read books about maths, arranging conferences and lectures and providing support for MAT, AEA and STEP.

- have experience of teaching A Level and Further Mathematics
