Crawley - Security Officer
Please note, you will be employed by Equans, supporting their Southern Water contracts,
Shift Pattern:
4 on 4 off Day and Night shift7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am
Candidates must have their own means of transport, such as a car, motorbike, or bicycle, as there is no public transport available near the site.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team in ensuring the safety and security of a critical site, its staff, visitors, and assets. This role is based in remote locations, primarily outdoors, overseeing the protection of water reservoirs.The Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring and controlling access, conducting regular patrols (up to 10 km), responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with security policies. You will play a key role in maintaining a secure environment, deterring criminal activities, and preventing unauthorized access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control access to the site, ensuring only authorised personnel are granted entry.
- Conduct regular foot patrols over varying terrain, covering distances of over 10 km per shift.
- Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents and emergencies.
- Operate and monitor security systems and access control software to detect potential risks.
- Maintain high levels of situational awareness and assess on-site security challenges.
- De-escalate confrontational situations and manage conflicts with professionalism.
- Liaise with management, emergency services, and other stakeholders during escalated incidents.
- Ensure compliance with security and safety protocols at all times.
- Communicate with members of the public as required, ensuring a courteous and professional approach.
Requirements:
- A valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) License.
- Proven experience in a security role or a related field.
- First Aid Certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Experience with access control and patrolling systems ie "redetrack" and other security technology,
- Clear criminal background check.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends.
- Basic computer literacy for logging reports and accessing security systems.
