Job overview

Are you a confident and motivated Band 5 or an emerging Band 6 Physiotherapist who would like to develop new clinical and managerial skills within an acute setting?

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen to work with an innovative and dynamic team of therapists within London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for a highly motivated and forward-thinking physiotherapist to join our diverse team and further develop specialist skills within a wide range of rotations.

This post is rotational across MSK, rheumatology (NPH) and orthopaedics at Northwick Park, Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals.

The post holder will be a qualified Physiotherapist, with at least 18 months experience within the physiotherapy specialty. You should have completed at least two specialist musculoskeletal rotations, which would ideally include an Orthopaedic inpatient rotation.

We would consider a competency based developmental position for a Band 5 working towards a band 6 role, and the individual would need to have been qualified for one year and have completed one rotation in MSK.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to be involved in many projects within the MSK and Orthopeadic services.

You will contribute to the further development of the service in addition to undertaking a busy, variable caseload in an outpatient setting which accepts referrals from both Consultants and GP’s, including hydrotherapy and Community Clinics.

The Inpatient cover will provide the opportunity to work with both elective and trauma caseloads.

One rotation is split with early supported discharge of NWB orthopaedic patients and outpatients.

There will be a supervisory responsibility for a Band 5 physiotherapist and students, providing appraisals, teaching and clinical support with managing demanding caseloads. You will also have roles linked to the Band 7 line managers that will facilitate your managerial and leadership qualities.

We have an excellent in-service training program. The MSK Therapies team also has a strong Band 8 strategic and clinical leadership team, who support the MSK physiotherapy team to deliver the best possible patient care.

You will also be expected to work 1 weekend in 5 as part of our MSK/Orthopaedic weekend working service but not respiratory on call

We would consider a competency based developmental position for a Band 5 working towards a band 6 role, and the individual would need to have been qualified for one year and have completed one rotation in MSK.

Working for our organisation

The Therapy Department holds a high profile within the Trust and you will be encouraged to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills according to the area of work setting and CPD guidelines. Support and supervision will be provided by experienced therapists.

Our multidisciplinary therapies department is committed to development and offers a large range of in-service and external training to suit individual’s needs. There are new and exciting projects continually being undertaken which you will be given the opportunity to partake in.
