Overview:
The bpi division sits within the Engineered Materials Division of Berry Global Inc. a US listed company with an annual turnover of around $13bn and over 40,000 employees.
The bpi division has manufacturing sites across the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland and Romania.
Berry Leominster is a polythene extrusion plant which manufactures agricultural films.
The business is currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer working 12 hours shifts on a 2 days / 2 nights rota basis.
This role is to support the shift with all repairs covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large manufacturing site.
Qualifications:
- Time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and have a recognised qualification in a related discipline or equivalent
- Experience of working in a production maintenance environment
- Proactive and dynamic approach to health, safety and environmental situations
- HNC or Degree level qualification in an Engineering discipline
- Excellent IT skills
- Proven track record in production engineering
- Flexible, highly motivated and driven with the ability to prioritise own workload
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Be a confident team player
Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities- Fixing machine faults as part of a normal shift activity
- Fast response to line breakdowns affecting production and liaising extensively with the Shift Manager
- Carrying out preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections or as directed by the Engineering Manager
- Fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations
- Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery to include extruders and site services
- Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained
- Support project development
- Follow and encourage stringent HSE and standard company practices
- Involve specialists when necessary to resolve complex situations
- Understand the importance of accurate and clear written records, maintaining documentation to a high standard
- Provide a written report on a shift basis
