In this leadership role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the OT workforce by: ✅ Collaborating with universities and coordinating student placements

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of current professional issues and current occupational therapy theory, practice and research
  • A substantial, broad clinical knowledge around the core medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions in the ‘acute’ environment of a District General Hospital, and skilled in applying occupational therapy frameworks
  • Modernisation Agenda for the NHS re new ways of working

  • Health and Social Care Policy

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc/diploma in occupational therapy
  • Practice placement educator/APPLE accredited
  • Registered with the HPC
  • Member of Professional body
  • Post registration qualification or training relevant to specialty
  • Supervision skills course
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ assessor award
  • Leadership training award

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • ECDL or part ECDL, particularly the management of spreadsheets and/or databases and PowerPoint
  • Specialty specific short courses (add as required)
  • NVQ assessor
  • Leadership training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post graduate clinical experience, most recently working as a senior therapist which includes leadership and management experience
  • Proven practical experience teaching small groups and multi-professional teams
  • Can lead change and is able to demonstrate implementation of new ways of working within the team
  • Formal teaching to large groups within and outside the service
  • Proven experience of being an appraissor and supervisor of clinical staff
  • Recruitment and selection of staff

  • Ability to travel between Kings Mill Hospital and Newark Hospital
