We are looking for a highly motivated registered nurse to join our Gastroenterology Nursing team on Frederick Salmon South - Northwick Park Hospital

Main duties of the job

A unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced Band 5 Registered General Nurse to join our specialised team on Frederick Salmon South at LNWH NHS Trust.

The role offers the opportunity for staff to work with inpatients on our Hepatology/Gastroenterology ward. You will be supported by an experienced team, Clinical Nurse Manager and Matron. The ward offers different learning opportunities as well as a chance to develop management skills

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with the Team Leader/Named Nurse, to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care for patients with infectious diseases.
  1. To support the Ward Manager in providing a unified approach to high standards of nursing care.
  2. To contribute to a learning environment that promotes excellent nursing practice.
  3. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others in the unit in ensuring good inter-disciplinary team work and problem solving to meet the needs of patients with Gastroenterology conditions, and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Relationships and Communication Requirements of Your Job
  1. Communicates with patients (and their relatives), negotiating daily nursing and rehabilitation plans in potentially sensitive, emotionally charged situations where significant communication and cognitive difficulties are often a feature, with support from more experienced staff as required.
  2. Acts as an advocate for the patient where appropriate.
  3. Ensures good communication verbally, via formal documentation and electronic sources with all members of the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team.
  4. Contributes a nursing perspective to relevant patient related meetings e.g. goal setting, family meetings, discharge planning, with support from more experienced staff.
