Quality Engineer (Projects)

The Role

The project quality assurance engineer will report directly to the assistant quality manager and will be responsible for quality requirements relating to the relevant projects. The quality engineer will be responsible for providing independent Quality Assurance and performing all quality tasks required on projects, orders and programs as defined by the assistant quality manager / quality manager as part of the Quality Department.

The quality engineer will create and manage the project quality plan and its agreed quality activities to meet the needs of the Business. This includes the identification of project quality risks as well as creating and maintaining key project QA documents, audits etc.

The quality engineer will provide regular communication with, input to, advice to the relevant project team personnel to achieve the agreed quality objectives, including the regular reporting of quality risks, issues and performance by reporting to the assistant quality manager / quality manager on progress and issues relating to project quality.

• Be responsible for ensuring key process owners undertake the development of their part of the quality management system.
• Identify and address non-conformance issues.
• Conduct internal auditing.
• Act as customer interface to establish strong working relationships – identifying potential issues, implementing preventative and corrective measures as required.
• Undertake Process Improvement reviews throughout the business.
• Facilitate customer and third-party audits.
• Assist the Quality Manager to achieve policy and objectives set for quality across the business.
• Support project and business Health, Safety and Quality plans and policies through operational implementation. Performs quality audits where required to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with MTS contractual requirements.
• Train people within the Quality Department where required.
• Operational experience in a manufacturing environment and QA experience is essential.
• Proven experience in a similar role with a thorough working knowledge of ISO9001.
• Good spoken and written communication skills
• Performance driven with a strong work ethic.
• Work with the Quality Coordinators and Supplier Quality on contract specific Issues

• In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification.
• Recognised technical qualification
• Technical Workshop experience of CNC, Welding, Testing and / or Fitting.
