The friendly team at Warrington Cellular Pathology department are looking for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, to join us as a Senior Biomedical Scientist.
The post will involve leading a section for the laboratory and acting as the departmental Training Officer. The post will involve day to day supervision of Biomedical Scientists and Support workers. The post holder will be expected to uphold and maintain high levels of quality,

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for leading the routine and special stains section of the laboratory, which includes digital pathology.
The post holder will also act as the departmental Training Officer., supporting staff with various IBMS portfolios.
The post holder will be required to conform to agreed standard operational procedures, Health & Safety procedures, departmental and organisational policies and good laboratory practice. Within their work duties the post holder will be expected to comply with the standards as required of UKAS and other relevant professional and regulatory Bodies e.g. H.T.A

Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of leading a team
- Training and supervision of Biomedical Science staff
- Experience in managing health & safety
- • Highly specialist knowledge and experience at Specialist BMS level within the discipline.
- Experience of participation and preparation for an UKAS inspection
- Participated in service development and implementation of change.
Qualifications
Essential criteria- HCPC Registration
- Relevant MSc, equivalent qualification or experience
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Fellow Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
- Training qualification
Skills, knowmledge and competency
Essential criteria- Good interpersonal and communication skills (Verbal & Written)
- Evidence of working as part of a team
- Good time management and prioritisation skills
- Good IT skills including commonly used software packages in the laboratory and dissection areas
- Able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information to individuals or groups
- Adopt a flexible approach to work
- Leadership and motivational ability
- Interest in developing IT skills in relation to LIMS
- Experience of attending clinics for near patient testing.
